Why I Write Blogfest

I write because I have something to say. You may think that a bit prideful, but that's probably the bottom line for most writers. I certainly don't write to make money although the more people who read what I write, the better not only for my ego but for my pocketbook.

It's quite possible that many people don't or won't like reading what I write, but if I didn't think it was important to get my thoughts and opinions out there, I wouldn't bother.

So I write on my blog primarily to promote the book my husband and I wrote together, Aloha is Forever. Although the story is sad, it is also inspirational. It is a way of sharing the hope we have as well as honoring our son's memory. Lest you think it might be full of mushy platitudes and silly ideas, nothing could be further from the truth. We tell the heart-wrenching story exactly as it happened but we also tell of the miracle that took place to put our hearts back together again and give us peace. That is a story worth sharing! I hope you take the time to read it.

  1. Thanks for your post. I think that's an important reason to write. If you didn't think it would matter to any one, then what would be the point? Even if my family are the only ones who read it, I want to write for them.

  4. Thank you for the post. It sounds like a very valid reason to write and I'm impressed that you and your husband were able to come together and write to heal with one another. It's a testament to your marriage.

Btw, my birthday is June 25, and I just turned 32, so seeing your son's birthday info makes the story seem even more personal to me. I hope you were able to find a way to remember and celebrate his life.

  7. Kayeleen, thanks for hosting this blogfest. I appreciated the opportunity to unearth and put my real reason for writing into words. It was very helpful to me.

Linny and Small Town Shelly Brown, yes, I do agree that we all have something to say.

Alana, Happy late Birthday to you. Yes, we did celebrate our son's birthday by having a book giveaway.

Mish, thanks for your comment. I find many things that I don't necessarily agree with but when I visit a blog I try to find something positive to comment on. If I can't, I go on to the next one without making comment. That mutual respect is so important!

Madeleine, thanks so much for your comment. I know there are many who have gone through even greater heartaches than we did and are still struggling. Those are the people we had in mind as we wrote our story.

  8. Definitely, writers must write when they have something to say, or else if they can tell a story that would entertain.
